I felt broken, lost, and dead. I didn't know what to do. So I ran out Nick's front door into the woods nearby his house. I kept running and running towards the cliff- HOLY SHIT THE CLIFF!? It was too late stop. I slid straight off the cliff. I had closed my eyes and prayed for it to be over quick. But, I hadn't hit the water yet. I spread my arms. I knew I was dead then. Because I felt so free. I had wanted to do this my whole entire life. Flying.

I suddenly heard screaming. I couldn't quite tell what they were saying, I was too high up. I decided to swoop a little lower. "Vanes-!!" The wind cut it off. I went even lower. "Vanessa!!!" I was dead. I was staring at my body. Nick was cradling me in his arms. Sobbing. I felt a strong rush pulling me towards my body. But, I didn't want to go. I wanted stick around and fly.

I shot straight up gasping. That was the craziest dream I ever had. I felt something under me moving crying. "Vanessa! Oh, Vanessa I'm so sorry. I was wrong. Don't be mad please. Vess, I love you." I looked at Nick. Looked him straight in the eye. And burst out laughing. It was the funniest thing he had ever said. He looked extremely upset.
"What's wrong?" I said hating him looking at me like that.
"I wasn't kidding." My eyes widened. I looked around realizing we were the only ones there. Suddenly I gasped not quite knowing why I did.
"You're not Nick." Suddenly black smoke and lots of laughter.
"Of course I'm not. Remember he's dating me." Angela had an evil smile, eviler than usual, about her. And her eyes were pitch black.
"You're.. You're a demon." I stuttered.
"Yeah and apparently pushing angels off a cliff just doesn't cut it anymore. It's a pity." I heard voices in the distance shouting my name. Nick and Raven burst through the trees. Angela shifted into a different position and her eyes got normal again. I fainted.

I woke up on Nick's couch. He was asleep in a recliner holding Angela in his lap. And Raven was on the love seat next to me. Angela's eyes fluttered open and she smiled at me. I felt hands grab me. I screamed.

Raven drove me to Nick's house. She drove fast yet swiftly with her black Sentra. I was slumped against the seat. I didn't want to go to Nick's house. I wasn't sure how I felt about him right now. I was confused and angry. And on top of that my head hurt like hell. Too late to back out now, Raven was pulling into his driveway. Shit. Now I actually have to face him and talk to him. Raven got out of the car and turned a glare towards me. I reluctantly got out of the car and followed her to the front door. She rung the door bell. Nick's Mom answered it.

"He's in his room with Angela. Me and his dad are going out to dinner. Don't let Vanessa and Angela get into a fight and break anything." She warned Raven.
"Don't worry. I won't let these two girls rip each others' throats out."
"Very well then, Raven." She smiled at her and nodded. Nick's parents walked out the door got into their car and drove away.
"Let's go, Vess."
"Time to face my death sentence?" I said sarcastically.
"Yep"
"Can't wait."

We walked up the stairs towards Nick's room. Raven opened the door and I stepped inside. I saw Angela and Nick making out with their shirts off.

"BREAK IT UP YOU TWO SLOBBER MOUTHS!!!" Raven screamed at them. I started crying and ran out of the room. I suddenly knew how I felt about Nick. I loved him.

After stupidly gaping at the five new students, I picked up my posture and my pride and set off to find Raven. I saw her sitting at one of the tables towards the corner of the courtyard waiting for me. Raven is a tall, skinny girl with almost translucent skin and burgundy eyes. She had jet black hair streaked with red. You might call her a goth but, I just call her Raven. Her deep set brown eyes were closed and she was tapping to the rhythm of her music. As soon as I had set my backpack down and sat beside her eyes fluttered open with a question. "He actually kissed you?"
"Yeah. How did you know? I figured Angela would have-"
"She did. But, I know you better than to make a bold move like that."
"I'm glad someone knows the truth."
"You know she is a preppy snob."
"Well, DUH!" We laughed together.

It was pretty much all going fine until Angela showed up. "What on Earth gave you the fantasy that you could ever," her voice began to raise,"EVER kiss my boyfriend?" She practically screamed at me.
"Your boyfriend, Nick, kissed me!"
"He would never do that!"
"Let me spell it out for you K-I-S-S-E-D ME!"
"Ugh!" She punched me in the jaw. I felt warm blood trickle in my mouth.
"Want me to spell that out for you-" I hit her into a wall with my leg, while still holding my mouth with one hand.

Suddenly with out any warning she hit me in the head with her heel. I felt something hard and cold. I soon realized that it was the concrete. I heard shouting and arguing, then it went black.




I woke up on the bed in Raven's room she, looked up at me as soon as I opened my eyes. Her deep set eyes were angry, I wondered if she was angry with me.

"You alright?"
"I think so." I slurred
"For a prep, she hit you pretty good."
"What happened to her?"
"I think you just ripped her clothing and broke the heel on your shoe."
"Aww, man I was hoping to have done more damage than that."
"I think we both were." I laughed at least Raven had a sense of humor, and her anger was lighting up.
"Come on lets go to Nick's."
"Why on Earth would I want to go there?"
"Because you need to talk to him and Angela."
"I'm not going."
"Come on. You know you want some answers, and you never know you might actually get a good crack at Angela."
"Well, when you put it that way. I guess I'll come as long as you'll be there."
"Of course. Wouldn't miss it for the world."

"I'd do anything! Just to hold you in my arms-" I hit the alarm as hard as I could. I yawned and stretched upward, then bounced back on my big, soft black comforter. I groaned. I didn't want to go to school. Didn't want to face the drama, the glares, the appalled faces, and most of all his face. I rolled out of bed, hitting the floor with a crash.

"Joy. Time for school." I said sarcastically. No way in hell I wanted to go to school. I shrugged in to a black and white stripped shirt of baby blue jeans. I remembered to day was picture day. I slight curled my brunette hair and looked into my crystal blue eyes. It was unusual to have blue eyes with brown hair. I just sighed grabbed a black jacket and headed for my car.

I drove down the freeway towards school. I gently pulled into the student parking lot. I kept my door locked and banged my head against the seat. As if life wasn't already complicated enough my best friend kissed me when he has a girlfriend. I am officially and eternally confused. I practically screamed in my head.

I knew I was going to regret this but, I unlocked the door and stepped into the great gloom of clouds. That was the first time I saw them. They were drop dead gorgeous. There was five of them. My mouth hung open. I just blindly walked to my locker and tried not to think about everything I had just saw and what had happened before it.

"Vess? Vess. VESS!" I looked up and saw he his face close too close. I pulled my head up too fast and then our lips crashed together.

"GAH!! I am soooo sorry! I didn't mean to do that- I came up too fast- I.. I" He cut me short.

"It's OK. No one has to know and it was and it was an accident, right?" He looked at me questionably.

"Of course."

"So um... you wanted to talk to me?"

"Yeah. Um... I am really, really sorry about what I said and I want to be friends again. And you are the best thing that ever happened to me-" I sobbed. I was not expecting what happened next. He helped me to my feet and tilted my chin. His lips hit mine softly, moving my lips with his I was still bewildered. We parted. Only to clash our lips with each other again.

He lifted me onto his dresser. And then we stopped. He settled for just hugging me while I cried like a baby and my eyes wide with confusion. "Why did yo-" He put a finger on my lips and shrugged.

"Just a friend comforting a friend. Now I think you should leave. Angela is here and it could get... complicated." I just stood up and popped his screen out and slid down his roof. And ran home.

As soon as I got there my mom opened the door and ran into her and started crying again. I was so mad and confused. A friend comforting a friend. Humph. I scoffed. I just ran to my room and sat on the floor. I just stared blankly at the floor not quite seeing it. My cellphone started ringing Face Down by Red Jumpsuit Apparatus.

"Hello?"
"If you ever, EVER! Kiss my boyfriend-" I hung up the phone. Obviously someone had seen us and told her. I sighed. School is going to be so very complicated. I took off my pants and crawled under my plain black blanket, took my hair down, closed my eyes and prayed for sleep to come soon.

Once, I reached his house I knocked on the door very hard. His mother answered. " Why hello, Vanessa. i wasn't expecting to-"
"Can I talk to Nick? It is important." I saw her glance at my appearance. I was sopping wet and out of breath.
"Please." I begged.
"But, of course you can."
"Thank you so much!" I hugged her hard. She smiled and nodded at me.

I ran up the stairs amazingly quiet. Usually I would have knocked but, I felt to anxious. I threw open the door as he was in his boxers getting ready to get in bed. He looked over at me startled and then horrified. I couldn't figure out why, until I realized... I, his best friend, was staring at him half-naked. "Am I interrupting something?"
"Um, yes?!"
"I am sort of of um... naked." That was all it took. I fainted everything went black as soon as my head hit the floor.
